Honda two wheelers (Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India - HMSI) is latest entry in two wheeler market in India by Honda Motor Company, Japan.
Honda has a long business history in India. The Japanese automotive giant, Honda landed in India in 1984. Honda entered India in collaboration with Kinetic as Kinetic Honda to promote Honda Scooters. Also, It developed a join venture with Hero Cycles as Hero Honda in 1984 to promote Honda Bikes India.
Honda Motors, Japan is also known for producing world’s largest number of internal combustion engine in Japan. Honda Motors' Japan two wheeler division (Motorcycle & Scooter) is World No.1, largest two wheeler maker company and is known for its ‘Wings’ logo. Honda started its solo two wheeler company as Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India ( Honda 2 wheelers ) in 1999 with Wing mark Honda logo.
"Honda two wheelers" India launched its first model Honda Activa scooter in 2001 in scooter/scooty segment. Honda Activa became instant success in Indian two wheeler market . Thereafter, Honda introduced several successful scooters & motorcycle bikes. Now, Honda bikes India has a vast range of two wheeler motorcycles, scooters, superbikes in India.
Honda two wheeler is No.1 in the scooter/scooty two wheeler segment in India with its scooter models Honda Activa, Honda Dio, Honda Avaitor, Honda Activa i.
While it is at no.3 position in bikes / motorcycles segment . Some popular Honda bikes (motorcycles) are Honda Shine (Honda 125cc bikes) , Honda Unicorn (Honda 150cc bikes), Honda CBR 250 R, Honda Dream Yuga (Honda 110cc bikes), Honda Hornet 160R.

The Japanese auto giant Honda's Indian subsidiary, 'Honda bikes' (HMSI), has four two wheeler production plants in India . Their main two wheeler company plant is in Manesar, Gurugram/Gurgaon while the other plants are situated at Tapukara in Rajasthan, Narsapura in Karnataka and new Vithalapur in Gujarat.
Honda production capacity started with 100 scooters per day in 2001 to now 18,000 bikes & scooters per day level in 2017. The Honda bike India company also exports two wheeler motorcycles & scooters from India to more than 50 countries.
Honda Activa is the most popular two wheeler model of Honda in India , so company has expanded its Activa model brand to Honda Activa 125 , Honda Activa i for female customers. This gearless scooty (automatic scooter), Activa is the best selling scooter/scooty in the Indian two wheeler market and often outshines the sales of the motorcycles. Honda Activa has been No.1 two wheeler recently surpassing competition Hero Splendor in India.
Honda two wheelers India (HMSI) has launched its new BS IV compliant motorcycles and scooters to comply India BSIV regulation introduced from 1st April'2017. Honda is also known for launching revolutionary products in the market , so have launched Honda Navi , a monkey bike based on Honda Activa engine, so far it has not got success.
Honda bikes (motorcycles) has got a little less success , with only old brands Honda Shine & Honda Unicorn have moderate success. The new Honda motorcycles Honda Twister, Honda Stunner, Honda Dream, Honda Navi, Honda Hornet 160 , Honda CB650F and Honda super bikes have been in less demand. This is because of intense competition by two wheeler companies like Hero, Bajaj, TVS , Yamaha in motorcycle segment.
Honda two wheelers India (HMSI) has been growing largely on bases of old success model brands Honda Activa, Dio , Honda Shine & Honda Unicorn in India . However, Honda being world two wheeler leader targets to dislodge it past friend , but now rival Hero Bikes ( Hero Motorcorp) from No.1 two wheeler company leadership position in India by year 2018-2020.
